William B. Platt III
William Platt, a lifelong resident of Southampton, died at his home surrounded by his close family on Sunday, November 20th, at age 71 after a long illness. He was born on February 23, 1940, the eldest son of seven children born to William B. Platt, Jr. and Edith G. Platt. He is survived by his close friend and longtime companion, Dianne Szczesny, his children William IV of East Hampton, Jeffrey of Westhampton Beach, Cheryl, Brian and Joan of Southampton, and his former wife Joan of Hampton Bays. He is also survived by his grandchildren (who affectionately dubbed him “Pa Da”), Danielle, Diana, Angelica, Madison, William Joseph, Emma and Ian, all of Southampton; also surviving are his siblings, Meredith P. Joyce of Southampton, Emalie P. Feerick of Larchmont, NY, Harold K. Platt of Naples, FL, Jonathan J. Platt of Southampton, Elinor P. Hoar of Broken Arrow, OK, and Richard M. Platt of Marlborough, MA.
Arrangements are being handled by J.M. O’Connell Funeral Home of Southampton. A graveside service will be held at Sacred Hearts’ of Jesus and Mary Cemetery on Friday, December 2nd. In lieu of flowers, donations to East End Hospice would be appreciated.

My memory is of a charming, handsome young man who smiled a lot and was friendly to a "kid" like me. He had a tmischeivous twinkle in his eye like papa did. I know you are all saddened by his loss and so will pray for your piece as well as his. Love to all the family. Cousin Barbara
